Crossroads of Time

Photo by Sincerely Media on Unsplash

In the dark hours

Of quiet contemplation

I stand trembling at the crossroads

Of then and now

Of past and future

Of oblivion and insight

Of denial and truth

I look back

down the open road

At a place of promise

Of opportunity

Of potential

Of choices

Of expanse

I look forward

down the diminishing path

To a murky wood

Of unknown

Of restriction

Of waning

You think you have time

Until you realize you don’t
