Darker to Darkest

In those dark hours
When you question the presence of light
And the coming of dawn
And the value of your soul

The sand flows through the hourglass
Excruciating in its infetisimal march
And you’re sure it will defy all laws of nature
And just stop
Leaving you suspended
In the dark
In the emptiness
In the despair

As dark turns to darkest
I slowly extinguish the candle

And wait
For the light
Or more dark
