Fearful Symmetry

Photo by Nathan Anderson on Unsplash

Primal fear

of loss

runs deep in the blood.

is etched across the universal heart.

It is older than memory.

It is older than the sky.

It is ancient as infancy.

I am afraid of that silence.

I am afraid of that moment,

that has no sound in it,

no sound at all,

nothing but the unspoken fear,

of a soul abandoned.
