I really don’t want to believe he was sadistic. After all, he played guitar in the new-fangled “folk mass” at church. He was not the typical serious, intellectual English teacher. He was more like the class clown. I think he was looking to add some “fun” into what was a boring English class for him!

I think if a teacher did this today I would be allowed a comfort animal of my choice to accompany me to his class.
