Multiple Me

A Poem About All My Selves

Multiple Me

My other self

releases her grip

and lets me

be I

and I emerges

like the Phoenix

guided through

the unfamiliar caverns

of my own mind

by her vigilant

gatekeeper

But

she waits in the wings

to seize the moment

of grand entrance

when she appears

to dull the pain

and take control

as she pushes I down

and I retreats

into deeper recesses

of my psyche

locked away

again

by her vigilant gatekeeper

the self that saves
