ON LOVE

Photo by Anastasia Sklyar on Unsplash

The lark sings sweetly

to the melodic dawning sunrise

of a new union

Devotion blooms

in the spring of intimacy

Passion ignites

and the flame of ecstasy

burns bright . . .

And dwindles

to smoldering embers

Retreating to the distance

the vibrant love flower

withers and fades

as winter’s chilled winds

cover the defeated heart

And the nightingale solemnly chants

a remorseful discord

to the approaching dusk
