The Apocalypse Within

Photo by Catalin Pop on Unsplash

I slowly open my eyes

And I see

The apocalypse without

Reflects

The apocalypse within

And I lie still

In my devastation

Not yet ready

To walk among its ruin

I slowly close my eyes

And I see

The images without

Reflected in

The images within

And I can’t hide

And I can’t escape

And I can’t repair

The apocalypse within
