Truth Broken

I hold in my hands
A small shred of enlightenment
I know this much is true
I cling to it
You laugh at it
I stand my ground
You laugh harder
I insist
You take it from me
And batter it
And cast it aside
I gently retrieve it
And hold it close once again
As I wonder now
Is this true?
